
January 12, 2023: -Prince Harry’s biography “Spare” has evolved into the fastest-selling non-fiction book in the U.K., its publisher stated.
On Tuesday, after the book’s official release, 400,000 copies were sold across hardback, e-book and audio formats, Transworld Penguin Random House stated, which cited British sales figures.
“We were sure that this book would fly, but it is coming out even our most bullish expectations,” the Managing Director of the publishing house, Larry Finlay, said in a statement.
“As we are aware, the only books to have sold more in their initial day are those showing the other Harry Potter,” Finlay said.
The biography includes details about the prince’s struggles, such as losing Princess Diana, Princess Diana when he was aged 12, and friction with the other royals, that include his father, King Charles III, stepmother Camilla and one brother Prince William.
“Spare” is sold in 16 different languages and ranks as a bestseller on Amazon websites worldwide, which include the U.K., U.S., Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Australia and Saudi Arabia at the time of writing.
Copies of the intimate memoir were released in Spain five days before the official publication, which much of its contents to make headlines worldwide.
Harry even offered several discussions before the book launch, doubling down on claims that a few royals leaked negative reports to the tabloid press about him and his wife Meghan to protect their reputations.
