
The Board of Directors of Singapore LNG Corporation (SLNG) has announced the appointment of Mr. Leong Wei Hung as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective April 7, 2024. Mr. Leong will commence as CEO (designated) on February 1, 2024, to ensure a smooth transition.
This leadership change follows a meticulous succession planning process. Mr. Leong brings extensive experience to the position, boasting a career spanning over 28 years with Shell, where he held diverse leadership roles across refining, chemicals, trading, and supply. Additionally, he has served as a non-executive director on the SLNG board since May 2022, offering valuable insights into the company’s strategic direction.
SLNG Chairman, Mr. Tang Kin Fei, expressed his confidence in Mr. Leong’s leadership, stating, “We are fortunate to have secured Mr. Leong’s leadership. His proven track record in the energy sector and his familiarity with SLNG’s operations make him ideally suited to navigate the company through the exciting opportunities and challenges that lie ahead.”
Mr. Leong takes the helm at a pivotal time for SLNG. The company is poised to play a vital role in ensuring Singapore’s energy security and contributing to the region’s growing demand for cleaner natural gas. His appointment underscores SLNG’s commitment to sustainable and responsible growth.
