Motorola expresses a rollable smartphone with a screen that can grow vertically

March 01, 2023: -Motorola shows off a concept smartphone that rolls out as a user slides it up.
The phone, featured at the Mobile World Congress technology conference in Barcelona, has a five-inch display that grows to 6.5 inches when pushed upward.
The idea is to permit better productivity and multitasking while easily fitting inside your pocket.
To be sure, the phone is something you can buy for a while. The phone is at a concept stage, and there is no telling how much it will cost.
Motorola is not the major mobile industry player anymore like it once was. The firm shipped 51 million units in 2021, the Statista data stated.
The design nearly shows innovation in a market that has struggled to develop new features to excite consumers.
“It underlines the explosion of innovation underway, which uses flexible display technology with a slew of idea products experimenting with a huge range of form factors,” Ben Wood, chief analyst at CCS Insight, said.
The device is arriving at a time of pain for smartphone makers.
Last year, the industry saw sales refusal of 11.3% as consumers make their belts tight, the exacerbating trend of people being steadfast onto their phones for longer as growth from players becomes incremental.
Lenovo, owning Motorola, also revealed a rollable laptop at this week’s conference. Like the phone, the computer slowly rises vertically so that you can witness a web page or have multiple apps open on one screen.
