April 19, 2023: McDonald’s is cooking up a sequence of upgrades for its most iconic burgers.
The fast-food giant announced this week that it would make “small but tasty making grow” to the Big Mac, McDouble, cheeseburger, double cheeseburger and hamburger.
Though the burger ingredients will remain the same, McDonald’s stated that changes to the preparation of its sandwiches would improve the quality of the finished product.
McDonald’s promises that its buns are going “softer” and more “pillowy” than its existing offerings. The chain is making unspecified “tweaks” to its burger assembly “to get hotter, meltier cheese.” The grilling over is modified to get a better sear on every burger patty.
Instead of adding diced white onion to every burger after it comes off the grill, McDonald’s added that to the patties while they cook. The chain stated that this would create a “juicier, caramelized flavour” than the standard method.
The Big Mac, meanwhile, will get a more massive squirt of Big Mac sauce, a proprietary combination of mayo, mustard, relish, and vinegar.
The new-and-improved burgers are being sold in West Coast McDonald’s markets, which include Los Angeles, Seattle, Las Vegas and Denver, and internationally in Australia, Canada and Belgium.
A McDonald’s representative, Make It that planned price increases won’t accompany the upgrades.
The revamped sandwiches will be made available nationwide in the year 2024, McDonald’s stated.
