
April 17, 2023: -San Francisco Supervisor Aaron Peskin says an arrest has been created in the April 4 fatal stabs of Cash App founder Bob Lee.
On Thursday, local San Francisco information outlet Mission Local said that police went to Emeryville, California, warranting an arrest of a suspect. Mission Local and the Chronicle of San Francisco have stated Nima Momeni is the suspect. According to his LinkedIn profile and reports, he is a tech businessman in the Bay Area.
On Saturday, Jail records stated that the 38-year-old Momeni was booked on the accusation of murder at 9:19 a.m.
According to media statements, the suspect knew Lee. Peskin stated on NBC Bay Area that the San Francisco Police Department is arresting an individual in Emeryville, a city suburb, and that “apparently” the was “not a random act,” but offering no further details. The police department is anticipated to hold a news conference with more information later Thursday.
San Francisco police found Lee aged 43, with stab wounds at nearly 2:35 a.m. in a deserted part of San Francisco. He was opted to a hospital with life-risk injuries and later witnesses, police said at the time.
Lee works as chief product deputy for the cryptocurrency company MobileCoin. He last served as chief technology officer of Square, a financial technology firm co-founded by former Twitter chief Jack Dorsey. Lee created Cash App, a money transfer service.
In his LinkedIn profile, he invested in Elon Musk’s SpaceX venture and other tech companies, such as the social audio app Clubhouse.
He was widely praised by retired colleagues, including MobileCoin CEO Joshua Goldbard, who stated in a Twitter thread that Lee was an “amazing” visionary with a mind.
