Samsung just revealed two recent phones that fold in half
August 12, 2022: -On Wednesday, Samsung unveiled its current foldable phones, the Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Galaxy Z Fold 4.
The $999.99 Galaxy Z Flip 4 and the $1,799.99 Galaxy Z Fold 4 look similar to the previous year’s Flip 3 and Fold 3. The Galaxy Z Flip 4 is a little pocketable square that reveals a 6.7-inch screen inside. The Galaxy Z Fold 4 is a slim phone that opens such as a book to reveal a tablet-sized 7.6-inch screen.
Samsung said the phones are the company’s toughest foldable phones yet, thanks to more robust aluminum frames and Corning glass on the outside that’s resistant to scratches and damage from drops.
In August, Samsung typically releases new high-end phones, including ones with folding screens. It is giving it a chance to get its recent flagships on the market before Apple’s current iPhones, which typically launch in September.
The company is hoping to make foldable phones “mainstream,” according to its most recent earnings statement released on July 28. It aims for foldable phone sales to surpass that of its past flagship smartphone, Galaxy Note, in the second half.
Previously, Folding phones were a niche part of the overall smartphone market. Still, as Samsung gets better, its continued investment will help bolster its mobile division, which has been struck by increasing materials costs and waning consumer demand.
Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip 3 is the numerous popular foldable phone in the world, so the company has significant hopes for the Flip 4.
The 6.7-inch screen size of the Galaxy Z Flip 4 is similar to its predecessor, but it has a long-lasting battery. The Flip 4 has the thinnest hinge, making the seam less obvious.
The Galaxy Z Fold 4 is the initial device to ship with Android 12L, a particular version of Android created by Google for large-screen devices.
The camera on the Galaxy Z Fold 4 is elevated to a 50MP wide lens and a 30x zoom lens. A brightened sensor and enhanced processing power will help users take better nightly pictures.
