Heatwaves are predicted to clean northern China

July 6, 2022: -Heatwaves are predicted to clean through northern China in the coming two weeks, with over 250 million people predicted to grapple with temperatures that exceed 40 degrees Celsius in a few regions.

For almost a week, the regions of Xinjiang, Inner Mongolia, and Ningxia, and the provinces of Hebei, Henan, Gansu, and Shaanxi, will experience temperatures of over 40 C Fang Xiang, deputy head of the National Meteorological Center (NMC).

China faces extreme weather contrasts this summer, with heatwaves in the north and heavy rain and floods in the south. The government is blaming climate change, saying it will affect the economy and society.

In June, heat waves have come for nearly half of China’s population. Fang said that some of northern China’s power grid load saw new highs last month, affecting the energy supply.

“The lasting high temperatures are causing a marked impact on production and life, such as increased pressure on power supply,” Fang said.

The energy in nuclear waste could power the U.S. for 100 years, but the technology was never commercialized.

He said at a news conference that the possibility of forest fires and harm to the stable the swell of crops like rice, cotton, and corn can be expected.

Drought such conditions are expected to affect crops in Shandong, Anhui, Henan, Shaanxi, and Gansu, Fang warned.

In June, China’s average temperature was increased since 1961, Wang Yawei, a weather official, said at the news conference.

He said it was 0.9 degrees Celsius higher than the same period in previous years.

In the previous month, the provinces of Henan and Jiangsu, which have a combined population of over 180 million, set current daily power usage records.
