Facebook users are reporting celebrity spam attacking their feeds
August 25, 2022: -Facebook parent Meta confirmed an issue with the company’s Feed after multiple users reported issues with spam from celebrity pages.
“We know that a few people own trouble with their Facebook Feed. We’re operating to get things back to normal as quickly as possible, and we apologize for any inconvenience,” a spokesperson for Meta added.
In an edited statement, a Meta representative said a “configuration change forced a few people to have problem with their Facebook Feed.” The spokesperson further said that the issues had been resolved.
Downdetector, a service where people can log problems and outages with websites, had thousands of reported issues with Facebook, with 81% of complaints related to the Feed.
Several users remarking on Downdetector and Twitter reported an issue where they would see comments published by random people on celebrity accounts appearing on their Feed. CNBC also witnessed the case when checking the Feed earlier Wednesday.
The Facebook Feed is the mainstream of posts of people that you follow.
Meta’s properties had important issues in October when users could not access Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger for several hours. That was caused by backend changes that caused “issues” that interrupted traffic flow amid routers in Facebook’s data centers around the world, Facebook said.
The social media giant has not colored based on the latest glitch.
