Carolyn Goodman (March 25, 1939) is an American politician who is the second female mayor of Las Vegas, Nevada, since 2011. She is married to former mayor and attorney Oscar Goodman and the founder, president, and trustee emeritus of The Meadows School.

Carolyn is well known for founding The Meadows School in 1984 for pre-kindergarten through 12th grades. She orchestrated and oversaw the day-to-day operations for 26 years, creating and improving the curricular development, budget, administration, faculty, and staff, and has even fundraised endeavors for the organization. During this time, Carolyn never had ownership of the school during her 26 years in leadership and never took a salary. She later retired from her position in June 2010.

On June 7, 2011, Carolyn was elected mayor of Las Vegas with 60% of the vote runoff. She was sworn in on July 6, 2011and was re-elected in 2015 and again in April 2019 to a third term, with 83.5% of the vote. 

As mayor, Carolyn championed improving inner-city schools by pushing for early learning preschool programs, tutorials for ESL students and their parents, bringing together private, public, and nonprofits partners to participate in achievement-based and measurable educational initiatives.

Of Las Vegas’ $44.9 billion tourism industry, Carolyn has been an advocate and a board member of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority. She also serves on the Las Vegas Events, the Las Vegas Global Economic Alliance (LVGEA), the Southern Nevada Tourism Infrastructure Committee, the Regional Transportation Commission, the Transportation Safety Commission, and the Clark County Regional Flood Control District. She is also a founding member of the UNLV School of Medicine Community Engagement Board.

Born in New York City, Carolyn earned a bachelor’s degree in anthropology from Bryn Mawr College in 1961. She graduated from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, in 1973 with a master’s degree in counseling.
