Ana Brnabić
Prime Minister of Serbia, Europe
Age: 45
Ana Brnabić (28 September 1975) is a Serbian politician serving as the prime minister of Serbia since 2017. She was re-elected for the second time in October 2020 and is the first woman and first openly gay person to hold office.
Born in Belgrade, Ana holds a master’s degree (MBA) from the University of Hull from the United Kingdom and has worked with international organizations, foreign investors, local governments, and the public sector in Serbia for more than ten years.
Ana was elected Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government in August 2016, where she mainly worked on public administration reform through the introduction of e-government in Serbia. Some of the most critical projects she implemented in this segment during her mandate are the e-Baby project, the automatic data exchange between public administration bodies. This made electronic registration and payment of property taxes and enrolment of children in kindergartens and schools much more simple and efficient.
Before her election to the government of Serbia, Ana was a member of the Board of Directors of the non-profit organization PEXIM, which offers scholarships to students from Serbia and North Macedonia for their master studies at the University of Cambridge. She was also the director of Continental Wind Serbia (CWS) and President of the National Alliance for Local Economic Development (NALED).
Ana has worked at various US consulting companies that implemented projects financed by the US Agency for International Development (USAID) in Serbia. She was deputy director of the Serbia Competitiveness Project and a senior coordinator of the Programme for the economic development of municipalities. Besides her political achievements, Ana has received numerous awards for the projects she has worked on to promote social responsibility and tolerance.
